Íslendingasögur: Exploring the Land of Sagas, 2006-2014

Íslendingasögur condenses the best of eight years of my Icelandic nature photography.

In 2006 I first visited Iceland, almost by accident. My wife and I had arranged to take a couple week photography expedition through the eastern fjords of Greenland, and as it happens, that trip would leave us, at its end, at the pier in Keflavik, Iceland, to head, presumably, back home. As if I were going to head home without taking a look around, of course that was not going to happen. We spent a week circling the country and photoraphing nearly non-stop. The images I got from that trip took on characters that I hadn't seen in my previous work, and I decided to return again, and later again, and...   trying to really capture the feeling I was getting from the Icelandic landscape.

Seven years later, I did a crowdfunding campaign to raise money in part for a January residency in Iceland that would mark my fifth stay there. Over one hundred people helped contribute to my campaign, for which I shall always be grateful. One of the rewards for the Kickstarter was a small book, containing images from all my travels in Iceland, hopefully, a retrospective "best of Iceland" that captures the unique emotional character of the Icelandic landscape.

That book is now available for purchase by the general public. It's not a large book, but I'm happy with how it's made, and the color reproduction, for short-run book printing, is something I'm very pleased by. I believe you will be as well.
