Sunol Wilderness in Spring - March 22, 2015
Sunol Regional Wilderness is a landscape gem near to home. Join artist and author Joe Decker for a magical day of exploration and insights into capturing the magic of the region with your camera. Additional locations may include the oak trees of the Calaveras reservoir and other surprises, in previous years windmills, motorcycles, barns and cows have made unlikely appearances. San Mateo County's coast, hills and forests provide a spectacular set of photographic opportunities for the photographer--strange rock formations along the coast, open hills, towering redwoods, a lighthouse, and any number of smaller surprises. Join Joe Decker for this photographic adventure and tribute to Rick Knepp's decades of photography and teaching in this amazing location. Bring a camera, a tripod, and your enthusiasm!

Camera I: Cameras and Lenses
Learn how to use your fully-adjustable camera. We cover the fundamentals of digital and traditional cameras to make great pictures. We'll explain exposure, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and how they interact to allow you the flexiblity to make great images. Additional topics include camera selection, film and digital choices, lens choices, basic flash and filters. The April session (1, 15, 22, 29) is open for registration, a June/July session (June 23, 30; July 7, 14) is not yet open for registation.
Camera II: Beyond the Basics
Add to your photographic toolbox by learning more about your camera. How do exposure controls and your lens selection impact the way your photos look? Dig deeper into the basics of composition and form as well. One evening will be spent in the field exploring the magic of night photography. The May session (6, 13, 20, 27) is open for registration.
Camera III: The Photographer's Eye
Connect the craft of using a camera to making great pictures! Expand your understanding while learning artistic fundamentals. Define what makes a good picture and discover the power of composition. Focus on getting the pictures out of your camera and into print (or the web). Whether you want to print them directly at a retail store or apply the tools available in post-processing, we will help you make a decision then move along the proper path. The June session (3, 10, 17, 24) is open for registration.
Classes and Workshops through other Venues
Mono Lake: The Forgotten Season - January 2016, specific dates to be set
This photography seminar will be based in Lee Vining and will explore locations along the lake to photograph the serenity and beauty that is the Mono Basin in winter. Specific locations will depend a lot on the weather and conditions, which vary widely from year to year, but will focus on the incredible landscape opportunities around Mono Lake, the gem of the Eastern Sierra. Basic rates are $75/hour with a two-hour minimum, $240/4 hours, $360/8 hours, and do not include travel or expenses.
