Why Platinum?

I still remember the first time I saw a platinum print in person…

… I knew I was looking at something special, even though I couldn’t then tell you why. I’ve learned a bit since then, of course!

Platinum-palladium prints have a detailed gentleness, an enormous tonal range, a warmth, in many cases they almost seem to glow from an inner light. The image become a part of the paper rather than layering within an emulsion on top of it, leaving the resulting print a timeless, singular artifact of the photographer’s vision.

As a result of their unique chemistry, these prints are incredibly archival, avoiding the oxidation that can trouble silver-gelatin prints. These prints, properly cared for, will last for centuries or more.
